This painting is about making something impossible to overlook. The blue elephant slowly emerges from the fog, while white lines highlight its body and force us to notice it. The colors are also pulled from the visual tone of Elephants in the Fog. For me, the elephant can represent the Kinnar community, or any part of society that gets pushed into the background but it can also be something personal. My desire to spend my life making art could itself become an elephant in the fog, if I stay afraid to tell my family and fear being judged or ignored by my society. We all have things we hesitate to bring into the open. This painting is about bringing them out anyway.
